Since we last shared our news, the May Fair has taken place, and what a magnificent day it was! The
children were incredibly excited to participate, and the parade felt particularly special this year. Our
maypole dancers led the parade in their traditional attire, followed by a sea of pupils wearing Aldburycoloured sashes and waving flags. Each flag featured one of our Christian values—did those of you
watching manage to spot all twelve?
The dancing itself was truly some of the best we have seen. Mrs Chandler, our Class 4 teacher, introduced a
fourth dance to the repertoire this year; alongside the traditional circle dance, spider’s web and plait, the
children expertly performed the ‘barber’s pole’. It was a wonderful display of coordination and school spirit that made us all really proud.
Prior to the May Fair festivities, the entire school enjoyed a spectacular trip to Woburn Safari Park.
This was a rare and exciting opportunity for every year group to explore together, and we are
incredibly grateful to our FOAS group, who fully funded the day. The children were captivated as they
travelled through the Road Safari, coming face-toface with a host of animals from monkeys to giraffes,
all from the safety of the coach.
Back in the classroom, our Year 6 pupils have just completed their end-of-key-stage SATs. We areimmensely proud of the resilience they showed throughout the week. They approached each paper with a focused, ‘can-do’ attitude, no doubt spurred on by the hearty breakfasts they enjoyed together each morning. They have worked incredibly hard and truly demonstrated the perseverance we value so highly at Aldbury.
The academic year may be drawing toward its close, but the calendar remains full. We still have much to
look forward to, including our annual Sports Day, which is always a highlight of the summer term.
Furthermore, we are eagerly anticipating the inter-village sports competition; we are keeping our fingers
crossed that the British weather remains on our side so the children can represent Aldbury in the spirit of
friendly competition with our neighbouring schools!
